Jeannette: The childhood of Joan of Arc

《童女贞德》

French director Bruno Dumont explores Joan of Arc"s spiritual and patriotic awakening as a child in this musical film based on Charles Péguy"s 1910 poem The Mystery of the Charity of Joan of Arc, which looked at the visions that inspired her to join the fight against the English during the Hundred Years" War. Dumont focuses on how the young girl transformed from peasant to warrior, arguing that: "Everyone knows her story in adult life and her end but I don"t want to re-visit what"s already been done. What hasn"t been explored so much is her childhood… What interests me is how Jeannette became Joan of Arc."
