《寂静中的惊奇》

The source material for Todd Haynes" Wonderstruck is Brian Selznick"s YA book of the same name, which alternates pages of text with illustrations and was itself inspired by a documentary about deaf children"s visual hyper-awareness. Echoing Selznick"s approach, half of Haynes" Wonderstruck – which is set in 1927 and 1977 – will be silent, with a number of roles featuring deaf actors. Thirteen-year-old Millicent Simmonds stars as Rose, who runs away from home in search of her idol Lillian Mayhew (played by Julianne Moore), with Michelle Williams and Tom Noonan also featuring. The heart-warming family film is a departure of sorts for Haynes, whose previous movies have often explored transgressive or clandestine relationships.
