电力不足概率法估计发电系统可靠性的一种常用方法。简称LOLP法。1947年前后由G.卡莱布雷斯等提出，以后又经克希迈尔、R.J.林里等人加以完善。LOLP法把发电系统的停运容量概率模型和适当的负荷模型结合起来产生风险度指标。最简单而又用得十分广泛的负荷模型是，每天的负荷用日峰荷值表示，各个日峰荷值再按递减次序排列而得到日峰荷变化曲线。然后比较系统的停运容量概率模型和日峰荷变化曲线，便可得到日尖峰负荷超过系统可用发电容量的概率，称为电力不足概率，又称缺电力风险，记为LOLP，并以此作为系统的可靠性指标。LOLP还可以简单地用引起停电故障的时间在所统计期间内所占的百分数表示，即式中P1为电力不足概率。LOLP法的优点是概念清晰，计算简单，缺点是它只说明电力不足的可能性，不能说明电力不足的严重程度。
