电迁移法金属提纯一种应用电迁移原理提纯金属的技术,也称电传输提纯。当大量直流电通过液态或固态合金和金属时,其中杂质组分原子发生相对的电迁移,样品中出现杂质浓度的再分配(见图)。 1940年德布尔(J.H.deBoer)和法斯特(J.D.Fast)首次报道了用电迁移技术从锆中除氧。之后,其他学者又研究了许多过渡金属锕系和镧系的提纯,测量了它们的电迁移速度。在早先的电迁移的报告中也使用固体电解的术语,显然这个术语是不妥的。电迁移的提纯方法与经典的化学方法不同,与区域熔炼法也不同,区熔法是利用在液相和固相间的分配来分凝杂质。在电迁移中,杂质的再分配发生在一个相中而不是在两个不同的相中,使浓度分布曲线偏移。电迁移法从金属相中除去杂质是在原相中被取代,并不改变键的总数和影响熵变。因此对杂质有很高的亲和力的金属可以用电迁移方法来处理。非常活泼的金属对碳、氮、氧有很高的亲和力,以致用普通化学方法都无法提纯。如碳和氮与钍结合得很紧,在高真空下,以电子束熔炼钍,则钍优先蒸发了,而剩下富集了这些杂质的液态金属;如用电迁移提纯,氮浓度从60ppm降到1ppm,碳浓度从40ppm降到小于2ppm,氧浓度从 120ppm降到10ppm。对金属中扩散率高的间隙杂质可以在适当长的时间内在固态中把它除掉。电迁移提纯金属的方法,耗能大,速度慢,尚未能用来大量提纯金属,目前仅在某些研究领域中制取小量超高纯金属。参考书目W.
