雅思口语:a car trip that is interesting that you want to go to

A car trip that you want to go to的时候就想到之前有人跟我说,“西藏一定要去,那里美得让人窒息!”

I’ve always wanted to take a car trip to Tibet. I got my driver’s license 3 years ago, but I’ve never driven to a place that far.

I plan to go there by myself this summer vacation. And I am really looking forward to this trip.

My dad has been there once, and he told me, the scenery there is gorgeous. And the Potala Palace is splendid. I’ve seen pictures of it on travel magazines, and the unique architecture deeply attracted me. Around the building, there are lines of golden or red prayer wheels. People in Tibet are all devout Buddhists, you know, so the atmosphere is pretty sacred.

But there’s a problem. Tibet is really far from my hometown, and I couldn’t go there by air, ‘cause I would suffer from the altitude sickness. So taking the train to the neighboring city and driving there is my only option, that way I could get used to the altitude gradually. Plus, it is convenient for me to get around in a car. I mean, I can use my GPS to find all the places I want to visit, and I could admire the view along the way.

I also checked the travel tips online. I’ve worked out all the places I want to go, and I heard the barbecue there is out of this world. And I’ve already made a hotel reservation in advance, so the price is much lower.

So… basically, that’s how I planned my trip, and I just couldn’t wait to start it.

1. devout Buddhist

Devout means believing strongly in a particular religion and obeying its laws and practices.

2. altitude sickness

Altitude sickness is an illness caused by a lack of oxygen, because of being very high above sea level, for example on a mountain.

3. travel tips

4. work something out

Work something out有“算出”的意思,例如to work out the answer. 不过这里,它是to plan or think of something的意思,例如:I’ve worked out a new way of doing it.

They have a specialty called roast lamb, and they would serve the whole lamb on the table for the guests. It’s a special culture. And the meat was so palatable, I mean, it’s crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. It could just melt in your mouth. And it tastes better if we eat them with the special sauce they made.

And I have to mention the way they eat the lamb. After the dish was put on the table, the most powerful man around the table gets to try the first bite, and then take a sip of strong liquor, just to show our respect to the nature and God, you know, because they provide us with the food we eat.

1. specialty = a type of food or product that a restaurant or place is famous for because it is so good.

2. crisp on the outside and tender on the inside

3. melt in your mouth = to be soft and very good to eat,

4. take a sip of something
