预防艾滋病的英语作文(The fight against aids)

MoremediacoverageisbeingpaidtotheHIV/AIDSsituationinChina,especiallyafteragatheringofleadingofficials,scientists,medicalworkersandactivistsinthefieldoccurredinBeijingonNovember10.Byofficialestimates,Chinahas840,000peoplecarryingHIV,thevirusthatcausesAIDS,andabout80,000AIDSpatients.DespitethefairlylargegroupsofHIVcarriersandAIDSpatients,theepidemicismostlyconfinedtohigh-riskgroups,suchasdrugusers,prostitutesandusersofbloodproducts.

Andithasyettospreadwidelyintherestofthenation.TheChineseGovernmentiswellawareofsuchperspectives,andthecentralandlocalgovernmentshaveallocated6.8billionyuan(US$822billion)toestablishandimprovediseasepreventionandcontrolmechanismsinprovinces.Eachyearaspecialfundofmorethan200millionyuan(US$24million)ischanneledintoHIV/AIDSprevention,careandtreatment.SinceApril,freemedicinetopoorAIDSpatientshasbeendeliveredinregionshithardestbythevirus.JustastheimpactsofAIDSreachessocialandeconomicfieldsofsociety,effectivepreventionalsorequiresunitedeffortsfromvirtuallyallsectors.Keyfactorsneededincludepubliceducation,affordabledrugs,medicaltrainingforhealthcareworkersinhospitalsandthepublichealthsystem,monitoringandevaluation,carefororphans,measurestostopmother-to-childtransmission,acomprehensivecareframeworkandresearchintovaccinesandacure.

Noneofthesethingscanbeachievedwiththesinglehandofanyinstitution—nothealthofficials,notmedicalworkersorthegovernment.ThefightagainstHIV/AIDSrequirestheparticipationofasmanypartiesaspossible.AsformerUSPresidentBillClintonsaidasaco-chairoftheadvisoryboardofInternationalAIDSTrust,theAIDSproblemis“manageableandpreventable”thoughwemustwageitonallfrontswithtenuousdetermination,utmostpatienceandtactfulskills.
